About This Service
Tree Trimming Across the Triad.
Overgrown branches, deadwood, limbs scraping your roof, trees that haven’t been touched in a decade — that’s where we come in. 316 Tree Services trims trees across High Point, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and the broader Triad so they stay healthy, look right, and stop threatening your house every time a storm rolls through.
We trim to make trees safer, healthier, and better-shaped — not just shorter. That means proper cuts that won’t damage the tree, selective removal of dead and crossing limbs, and crown work that lets the tree breathe. We don’t top trees — that’s the fast way to kill a healthy tree, and we won’t do it.
All trimmings hauled off. Driveway and lawn clear when we leave. No surprise charges, no leftover mess.

Know What You’re Dealing With
What Kind of
Trimming Job Is Yours?
Trimming a single ornamental in the front yard is different than crown-thinning a 60-foot oak that’s been ignored for ten years. Here’s how we scope trimming work so you know what to expect across High Point, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and the Triad.
Category One
Light Trim
1–3 Trees · Under 30ft · Shaping & Deadwood
A handful of small trees, ornamental shaping, deadwood removal, or clearance trimming away from the house. Pole saw and ladder work, no climbing required. Half-day job.
- 1–3 trees under 30ft
- Deadwood and storm damage removed
- Light shaping and clearance work
- All trimmings hauled off
- Same-day completion
Category Two
Standard Trim
30–60ft · Crown Cleaning · Structural Pruning
The most common trimming job — a mature yard tree that needs crown cleaning, structural pruning, and selective limb removal. Climber or bucket truck, full crew, half-day to full-day.
- Mature trees 30–60ft tall
- Crown cleaning and selective thinning
- Proper cuts — no topping, ever
- All trimmings hauled off
- Multiple trees on same trip
Category Three
Heavy Restoration
60ft+ · Neglected Trees · Multi-Tree Properties
Large mature trees that haven’t been touched in years, or full-property trim jobs across multiple trees. Significant climbing work, structural pruning, deadwood removal, and crown restoration.
- Trees 60ft+ or long-neglected
- Multi-tree property jobs
- Full crown restoration
- Multi-day jobs scoped to your timeline
- All debris hauled off — F750 + trailer
What Moves a Trimming Job Into a Higher Category
Tree Count
One tree is a different job than fifteen. More trees means more setup, more climbing, more cleanup, and more debris hauling.
Height & Crown Size
A 25-foot ornamental is pole-saw work. A 70-foot oak needs climbing, rigging, and significant crown access. Height adds time and equipment.
Neglect & Restoration Work
A tree trimmed every two years needs maintenance work. A tree ignored for fifteen years needs restoration — deadwood removal, crown rebuilding, and significantly more time.
Access & Equipment
Trees a bucket truck can reach are faster than trees that require climbing. Tight backyard access, fenced areas, and trees over structures all add complexity.

Why 316 Tree Guys
Two Things Most
Tree Crews Can’t Promise.
In a trade full of one-truck operators and “I’ll call you back next week” estimates, we built 316 Tree Guys on two principles that protect your property and your time.
The 316 Tree Guys Promise

General liability and workers’ comp on every job. Ask for our certificate before we start — we keep it ready. If a crew pushes back on that request, hire someone else.

Common Questions
Straight Answers,
No Runaround.
The questions homeowners actually ask before they hire us for tree trimming. If yours isn’t here, call — we’ll answer it on the spot.
How much does tree trimming cost across the Triad?
Trimming cost depends on tree count, height, and how much restoration the trees need. A single ornamental shape-up is fast and low-cost. A neglected 60-foot oak that hasn’t been touched in fifteen years is a different job. We give every homeowner a free written estimate before any work. Call (336) 259-8460 with what you’re dealing with and we can usually give a ballpark on the phone.
Do you top trees?
No. Topping is when a tree is cut down to stubs at the top — it’s the fast cheap option and it kills the tree over a few years. We won’t do it. Proper trimming uses structural cuts at branch collars, selective limb removal, and crown thinning that keeps the tree healthy. If another company quoted you “topping,” they’re doing real long-term damage to the tree.
When is the best time to trim trees in North Carolina?
Late winter to early spring (February–April) is ideal for most species — the tree is dormant, you can see the structure clearly, and the tree heals fast when growth starts. But trimming can be done year-round for safety reasons (deadwood, storm damage, structural risk). We can advise on timing per species when we walk the property.
How much will you trim off my tree?
For a healthy mature tree, we generally remove no more than 25% of the live canopy in a single trim — anything more stresses the tree. For restoration work on neglected trees, we may stage trimming across two or three seasons rather than do it all at once. Goal is a healthier tree, not just a smaller tree.
Will trimming damage my tree?
Proper trimming improves tree health, not damages it. Wrong cuts (flush cuts, stub cuts, topping) cause decay, weak regrowth, and long-term decline. We make cuts at the branch collar, use sharp clean tools, and avoid removing more than the tree can handle. Done right, trimming extends the tree’s life.
